Yesterday was library day! We began by reading D.W.'s Library Card and then after we made our own library cards! We're asking the kids and their families to track their reading for the month of March. Each time your child brings their library card in with their parents' initials, we'll add a book to our classroom book graph. Our goal is to read 100 books as a class during March is reading month!
Playing library was a blast! One friend was a librarian while the rest of us practiced moving quietly through the library and checking out books. We talked about the difference between borrowing a book from the library and buying toys from the toy store (which we also practiced this week).
The Dewey decimal system was hard to understand at first, but then we watched a short video about it to help us understand. We even organized our own classroom bookshelf according to numbers on the books! We had a great day and we're so excited about our reading goal!!
Today we began our theme of special places. Our first special place is our bedroom. The kids drew their dream room (some of which included ponies, ladders, and bowling balls). We also played mattress math, talked about keeping our rooms clean, and played house!
