Today we learned all about cows!! We started the day reading, Cows Can't Fly! by David Milgrim followed by Cows written by Peter Brady. We talked about the products that we get from cows and then.....we milked our class cow, Carla. We also made cardboard tube cows and learned lots of cool cow facts! Did you know that an adult cow can weigh 1,000-3,000 lbs? Did you know that a dairy cow can give milk up to 10 months after giving birth to a calf? Or that cows have 4 stomaches?! Ask your preschooler what they know about cows!
To transition from our spring/growing theme from last week, we are learning about farms. After brainstorming words we already knew that are associated with farms, we looked at two books: the fictional Farmer Duck, by Martin Waddell, and the non-fiction All Around the Farm, by Heather Alexander. We then recalled a few more words we had learned after reading those books, and completed our awesome farm word wall.
