We wrapped up our unit on frogs today and then learned a little more about eggs. We read the story A Frog in the Bog by Jean Rankin and practiced recalling the beginning, middle and end of a story- students were super story experts yet again! During centers, students explored hopping like a frog, eating like a frog, and feeling what it would be like living in a frog habitat. We also had a math center where students focused specifically on writing/identifying numbers 1-10. During the afternoon we read In the Nest and talked more about what kinds of animals come from eggs. Then we practiced being scientists and made some hypotheses during inter-eggs-ting eggs-periments. Click here to learn how to do the experiments at home!

Here are our tentative lesson plans for this week! Our theme is life cycles. Remember, although we do try to plan lessons a little bit ahead, we are very flexible depending on the students' responses and interests. We want to make the most of the attention span we have! :)
Today we learned about frogs. After kindermusic, we read the first two chapters of Frog and Toad are Friends by Arnold Lobel. The students were super readers and were able to identify the beginning, middle and end of the first chapter! Post-lunch, we started our awesome frog hat craft, then enjoyed the rest of the beautiful afternoon outside. |
